Free to Air Satellite FAQs

How do I get Free to Air Satellite TV?
If you already have a Satellite dish installation using Sky, you can simply swap the Sky box for a Ross SD or HD Receiver. If you don’t, you will need the Ross HD Satkit which has the dish and installation kit you need.

Do I need a subscription to get Free to Air Satellite TV?
No. Just a TV Licence. You will receive over 300 TV Channels all free including 5 HD TV Channels.

Can I get foreign TV Channels from other European satellites?
Yes! Ross satellite receivers can receive channels from all European satellites such as Astra 1 that broadcast into the UK. Go to http://www.lyngsat.com for full details of foreign channels that can be received.

Can I get Free to air Satellite through my outdoor Aerial?

Will my old Analogue TV still work with a satellite dish?
Yes, but you can only use the SD Receiver with scart socket connection.

Free to Air Satellite Receiver and Kit FAQs

Is the HD Satellite Kit easy to install?
No. You do need reasonable DIY skills to install the dish, particularly if you need to do this high up on an outside wall. We recommend you allow at least two hours and you will need help from someone for final dish alignment. Full instructions are enclosed and Ross has a technical help line. You may want to consider a compass and satellite finder- both stocked by Robert Dyas , to help make installation easier. If in doubt consult an installation engineer.

Can I get Free satellite TV in all rooms where I have a TV?
Yes, but each TV has to have its own cable feed from the satellite dish if you want to view different TV channels in different rooms. To do this you need install a cable from the dish LNB to the additional room using the Ross Satellite Connection Kit, and use another Ross SD or HD satellite receiver (sold separately) with the TV. This is the same as the way that Sky have multi-room as a premium service. Unlike Sky however, there is NO monthly fee after installation.

How many feeds can I have from my satellite dish?
This depends upon how many F plug sockets there are on your LNB. The LNB (Low noise block) accepts the signals from the satellite dish. You may need to replace your LNB for one having multiple outlets if you wish to run a number of TV’s from it.

Can I loop through to other TV’s from my Satellite receiver when installed?
You can run a satellite feed to other satellite receivers and TV’s in other rooms from your main TV receiver. However you will ONLY be able to watch the channel that is on the main TV! (Plus a limited number of channels that happen to be on the same transponder that the main TV is receiving signals from).

TV Cables FAQs

Do I need new cables for my installation?
It is always best to upgrade your TV connection cables when upgrading to digital TV. For SD Satellite and Freeview TV good quality scart connection between receiver and TV is sufficient.

Can I use Scart cables for HD Satellite and Freeview TV?
No. You have to use HDMI cables for full HD television. Ross offer a range of HDMI cables. The High performance HDMI Cable is 1.4 version compliant and is good for full 1080p and 3D digital TV.

What about Co-axial cables?
If your house is pre-cabled with Co-axial socket outlets at the wall you should consider high quality Ross Performance co-axial cable for your digital TV.
